I want a massage...

*

Okay, so yesterday's TSD workshop was damn fun lah. After warm up we ran about, in all different directions, and when we heard a clap we tried to get equidistant away from each other. After a while of doing this we were supposed to slow to slow-motion when there was a clap, and then get into an interesting position. Then we made a tableu thing. So we made our first little piece - positioning ourselves around a focal (ours was Mike) and getting into position then back out to neutral again.

- eyes on focal always, until last moment
- fluid movements
- "playback"

Then we skipped. We had this rope which the teachers swung and we were supposed to get through it to the other side. We did this without skipping first, then we had to skip once, then we had to make the skipping seamless, then we had to do some personifying action during the jump (but that never quite made it). Good fun. Then we listened to the rope. It was slow and steady, then it got faster, then it slowed, then it went so fast that you could hear the whirring of the rope.

- heartbeat
- a play's story
- teamwork and support, encouragement
- cues and timing
- the audience doesn't know you screwed up
- overcoming fear/hurdles

Oh, then we tried to get 9 people skipping at once, but we didn't.

- it's as good as the worst person?

Then we did some impro! With rope. Which we had time to prepare for.

- This is a mirror. XD
- suspension of disbelief
- don't tell them three times
- abstract stuff works
- strong openings
- dimension
