adventuring
Today I fled work as soon as I could and hopped on a train to have lunch My Way.
Then Izzy, Janice and I (the Adventurers) went hunting for an abandoned hotel that apparently contained suitcases from the 1950s. It smelt old - what a perfect place to adventure into! But the Lady who might open the gate and let us in was not there (though she had left fresh slippers on the porch). We contemplated throwing a bag of french fries into the lobby as an excuse to go in and retrieve it but we knew trespassing was wrong. Our only choice was to go for lunch ourselves, while waiting for the Lady to return. That, or stomp on a pile of bricks. We chose lunch.
At lunch we invented a new form of pictionary involving a bowl of remnants of grass jelly. It was remarkably simple and brought us back to basics. After slogging through my tedious storytelling (Ugly Betty's tragic season finale) we headed back to el hotel to find the gate creepily open.
We crept in. There, in the back room, was the Lady. She told us we could go upstairs but we had to pay first. This ancient and crumbling thing was trying to make money off us (the hotel not the Lady) when we might well fall through the cardboard floor and die. We found no 50-year-old suitcases. Instead we witnessed lots of old old furniture, various rusty electric fans, and big empty Pepsi bottles on a table.
The Lady told us that everything was on sale, even that antique bathtub and the birdcage hanging above it. The table, and that chair, those were for sale too, and if we wanted that cupboard we could get a taxi and take it home with us for $50. Everything was going for $50. Except books. Books could go for 50c.
I contemplated the purchase of a "lift under maintenance" sign but she offered it to us at 10 times more than I was willing to pay. I guess perhaps she thought we were the sort of people who might buy a piece of the wall for 50 bucks. We would not really do that because the old creaky building might have been cursed - we all got itchy red blobs on our skin that matched the curtains on its windows.
It would be a fantastically cool place to film something, though.

The Six Things I Could Never Do Without
I'm just saving them here, actually, cos I'm shortening this section of my OKC profile to seven words.
+++++
One. Laughter. It keeps me going at my lowest of lows and brings me to the highest of highs (and is much healthier than alcohol, which can do the same thing). Laughter is my drug and I am addicted to it.
Two. Stories. Whether they teach or inform or simply entertain, whether they're the truth or stuff of imagination, they shape our perceptions. The world will never be rid of storytellers and their stories.
Three&Four. My sight and hearing. There are so many beautiful things to photograph into memories; I could not imagine a colourless world. And then I need whispers that caress my heart; and I need music to complete my soul.
Five. Good television. I love watching it and I want to work in it. No one will trust me after that, but I don't care.
Six. People. Nice people actually abound. My friends make me feel loved and totally awesome, and I love their ideas and intelligence and intense personalities. People are the ones who can truly love me.

Some people
make me feel like I have so much love that can spew out of me, like rainbows out of a bowl of rainsoup, even though it makes none of a difference. I don't know if I want to love as many people, and as many things, as hard as I do, because I could choke on my heart and and my tears and die.
But what a wild way to go, to die of Love.
And I would still wish for laughtergasms for the rest of my life.
A laughtergasm is when something sofuckingbrilliant makes you laugh so hard that your heart bursts and you close your eyes and whisper iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou over and over again.

The Gladius In The Heart
We were awesome, just... no one saw it.
I know I said I wouldn't blog/talk about it, but I just wanna state here now that nothing really beats working with you guys. You're my favourite people to work with.
Our cheerleader probably won't even see this, but it's here anyway for posterity.

You cheap, cheap, bastard.
The "you", of course, referring to "me".
Cheap thrill: I cut a VO of Spiderman todaaaay! Like, literally cut using THE AVID. Today was exciting because we had Spidey and then we had a guest talking about cocoa so we cut all this delicious chocolate VO mmmmmmmmm num num num.
Last night I watched A Midsummer Night's Dream @ Fort Canning for $0.00 because Sue Anne had free tickets. It shot away my sleep since I had been awake all afternoon, but I liked it for the funny parts and it contained sneakers, a hair dryer, and a game of long chiam pas. I bet Shakespeare played cheekopa every day.
Today I bought my mum a present. This is the only uncheap part of the story.
Moving on.
Janice SMSed me this afternoon asking if I wanted to go for free drinks at the opening of Velvet Dragon so naturally I said ok. We ended up having not much alcohol at Billy Bomber's but it was still fun. Also, Janice your clothes =/= uncool you liar.
Sleep now. GLADIUS FTW LET'S BE AWESOME!

Your Existing Situation
Physical illness, over-tension, or emotional distress have taken a severe toll. Her self-esteem has been reduced and she now needs peaceful conditions and considerate treatment to permit recovery.
Your Stress Sources
Unfulfilled hopes have led to uncertainty and apprehension. Needs to feel secure and to avoid any further disappointment, and fears being passed over or losing standings and prestige. Doubts that things will be any better in the future and this negative attitude leads her to make exaggerated demands and to refuse to make reasonable compromises.
Your Restrained Characteristics
Remains emotionally unattached even when involved in a close relationship.
Distressed by the obstacles with which she is faced and is no mood for any form of activity or for further demands on her. Needs peace and quiet, and the avoidance of anything which might distress her further.
Your Desired Objective
Wants to make a favorable impression and be regarded as a special personality. Is therefore constantly on the watch to see whether she is succeeding in this and how others are reacting to her. This makes her feel she is in control. Uses tactics cleverly in order to obtain influence and special recognition. Susceptible to the esthetic or original.
Your Actual Problem
Disappointment and the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals have led to anxiety. Desires recognition and position, but is worried about her prospects. Reacts to this by protecting at any criticism and resisting any attempt to influence her. Tries to assert herself by meticulous control of detail in an effort to strengthen her position.

stoned
Oh man.
I haven't been able to read anything for a while.
And when I say a while, I probably mean for the past couple of months or more.
I seem to just skim things and they don't get into my head. At the end of whatever I'm reading (these days news articles) I realise I had no idea what it actually said. I don't remember anything.
This is muy malo.

*whistle*
This is the earliest I've been up in a very long while.
We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?

I'm going to be bothered. I'm going to be so bothered I take everyone by pleasant surprise and I'm gonna make everything so real for me that I'm not going to believe it.

Janice's 5
1. Do you find yourself watching movies differently, now that you're a film student-ish type? ( Paying more attention to cinematography and structure, etc -- and if so, when did this start? Sec school..? )
Oh yes, the moment I started reading film/cinematography books. Secondary school thereabouts, yes. I think I like movies for their juxtapositions between transitions between scenes. (Ahahaha now you know I'm spewing bullcrap.) I can still enjoy them; it's not like I've lost all sense of watching movies like a normal person, I am just a bit more critical/appreciative about the things other people might not care about. ^_^;
2. What sort of food ( in terms of national origin) is your favourite?
Ahahha I CANNOT CHOOSE! Me ENCANTA comer! Cantonese food is good, as is Italian, and I would like to eat more Mexican food. Of course, Singaporean cuisine (like Katong laksa and Hokkien prawn mee) is tambien muy buen!
3. What countries/cities are on your list of Definitely Must Visit places, and why?
I want to visit places that really really light up at night (New York, Paris) because lights make everything that much more romantic. And then New York again because, omg, it's New York, and I <3 NY. I want to work in TV in NY. I don't know why I'm not more crazy about LA; I guess when The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are taped in NY... ehehe.
Spain/Latin America, just because I'm learning Español.
Sweden, to see what the fuss is about.
Sydney, again, cos I loved it there; and Perth because of her sky.
The whole of Europe, cos... it's... old. Eh? Hollywood. Because, you know, !!!! (even though NY totally trumps Hollywood. or not. we'll see.)
Canada? Cos I want to find out how close the real Canada is to all the stereotypes.
LONDON. Cos I like their accents. And well the English countryside too.
Japan, I guess, cos everyone's been there or something.
4. What three words would you use to sum yourself up?
A bit spastic.
Um ok maybe not. How's this: hungry for more.
5. Besides boybands, what bands/artistes do you like? ~_^
I like Tori Amos, and the funny musicians, like Stephen Lynch <333333333.

So Sue Anne lent me The Devil Wears Prada and it just makes me nervous about SIP.
I finished the book I've been reading too - The Know-It-All - and it was really great, especially when you reach the end and actually read the index. It's hilarious! He indexed things like:
Encyclopaedia Britannica, brilliant quotations helpful in getting into
Fibonacci series, Boggle scored with
Jupiter, Julie's rash thoughtlessly compared to Great Red Spot of
"no", issues with saying
and it's really really fun reading the whole index, which is something people never do, which is really appropriate, because the book is about the author, A.J. Jacobs, an Esquire editor, who tasked himself with reading the entire Encyclopaedia Britannica from A-Z.
I'm now reading David Sedaris' Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim which is (Y) funny too. :) Huzzah.

Last night was really awesome and I had a great time. I think I'm still digesting the food from dinner though.
Going to play netball later. It's been a really really long time since I played and I'm going to suck but who cares, eh.

fan loi looohh
I'm back!
I went to Disneyland on Sunday (my birthday!! ;D) and totally geeked out cos everything was so nice and Disney, and of course, Disney is 4evaFTW. Even the train to Disneyland was cool cos the windows were Mickey shaped and so were the handlebars, and the seats were nice and cushy, and there were little statuettes of Disney characters inside the train. HK Disneyland is super small and the rides are not the exciting types but that was okay because it meant my mum could go on the rides, and I could go on everything I wanted twice if I liked. The shows were great too, and the fireworks rocked and I really really really loved it more than US Disneyland (I think cos HK Disneyland that day got NO QUEUE).
Anyway.
I just came back from Union Square after salsa class and OMG hahahhahahaha oh shit lah. Our instructors dance until DAMN ZAI and then I danced with 3 PRO ppl and then I didn't know what was I doing lorh. I only know how to do right turrrrrn right turrrrn right turrrn (but not all in a row - :@ @ Daryl).
Waaaaah and like a lot of ppl there were so prooo then I don't dare to dance, and then I dunno how to learn unless you go and dance, but I don't dare to ask ppl to teach, so like, what are we supposed to do, just sit around and wait for people to ask you to dance? LOLOL I DUNNO ANYTHING hahhahaha but it was fuuuun cos when you dance with pro ppl and they are your TEACHERS they will tell you what you must take note, and then they also look like they having a lot of fun especially JACKSOOHHHN and so it's v fun. AHAHA. Shit lah. Liddat how to dance leh.
Ok BED.
