Go, Mordecai!
Tonight, after a long day of sitting in a chair, I wandered out onto a roof and climbed a metal ladder. The sky was dark, a dusty rose colour; I saw no stars as I sat dangling my legs over the small platform. It was quiet enough, but a few metres up wasn't very much away from the world I wanted to escape from. I missed my puppy. I was sad and angry and calm all at once.
I thought about how there was empty space below me. I thought about how different heights give things depth when you look from the top. Then I thought about how the sky opened up above me. I thought about the faint flashes of light that appeared overhead and wondered for a while if I was safe.
When my feet hit the ground again I looked around, and suddenly being on the same level as everyone else seemed very unremarkable.

1) Was 2007 a good year for you?
Well, it feels gloomy and trapped and Christmas doesn't feel the same. There are many things that haven't been the same. I haven't had much energy or life in me this year. But I loved again, and that's something that has made me happier than I have been in a long, long, long, long time. So I guess, sure, it's been a good year. And I think 2008's gonna bring many more new and exciting experiences for me.
2) What was your favourite moment of the year?
I don't know. I can't pick. But I can list great moments. The fireworks in Disneyland. The audience response at Fly-By-Night, and then winning after that. Various dinners with Kenny and the Angels. MBA. Ethan's house. And just being with John and being in love.
3) What was your least favourite moment of the year?
The whole of SIP. =(
4) Where were you when 2007 began? and
5) Who were you with?

I will be alone! But at least I have someone 10,000 miles away.

Nope. Let's review them anyway:
Number One. Get out of bed at least 2 hours before class starts. If not, you will most surely be late for school. [Uh oh, nope. I think I did it for like the first 2 days. ]
Number Two. Be early for school. If not, you will have to eat crappy food that day. No western food, no curry cutlet noodle. *weep* You have been eating crapfood this whole week. [ Nope. I tried very hard at the beginning but my penchant for sleep just took over. ]
Number Three. Make every day a productive day. If not, you will surely feel like you've been beaten over the head with a large metal canister - useless and immobile and sometimes yelled at repeatedly. [ Hahahaha no. ]
Number Four. Put everything back where you found it. If not, the floor will never see the light of day. [*looks at floor* Nope. ]
Number Five. Touch every piece of paper only once. File, or throw. Mostly throw. [ I think I have been killing rainforests this year with all the tissues I have been using. ]
Number Six. Make some art. PLEASE. Any sort, including bits of mail. Every day. Do this and you'll have a portfolio as brilliant as the sun. [ Well I guess I did this, just not every day. I am chipping away at a pathetic sort of portfolio; it isn't half as brilliant as the moon. I did send letters to Janice though! ]
Number Six (B). Mail your bits of mail. [ I did! I did! But no Christmas cards this year. ]
Number Seven. Voice exercises. And sometimes any exercise would be good too. Every day. [ Ha ha ha ha. ]
Number Eight. Read the papers. Every day. Use them to do voice exercises. [ :$ ]
Number Nine. A book a day. Read, read, read. Books are not just for decorating your bookshelf. [ Sigh. I think I have read perhaps a maximum of 5 books this year. ]

culinary adventures!
Okay. In as few words as possible, these are the culinary adventures I have been on:
Not-Lasagne with Teo Sue Anne
* we decided we couldn't handle lasagne noodle layers, so we made curly pasta instead
It looked and smelled great and tasted okay. The pasta was a bit bland and Sueanne didn't like the sauce. But the meatballs were pretty nice I guess. Dry, but tasty. We are on our way to opening our own restaurant!
Excelsior!
Oreo Cheesecake (attempt number 2) with Teo Sue Anne
* our first attempt resulted in a cheesecake that tasted good, but had the consistency of yoghurt
We made the special design for Kenny Yong! This is his trial birthday cake. We made a third cake (that one had the consistency of a rock, because it was frozen. In my defence, it tasted good once it melted up a bit, and it was like really rich ice-cream cake anyway, so I don't see why anyone should complain :@) that I brought to school to eat in the morning. Nothing like cheesecake in Temasek Polytechnic at 8.30am.
This is what happens when you try to scoop cheesecake out of a foil pan. After the first attempt, the slices actually managed to stay standing on their own.
Above: the remains of our Oreo journey. Below: what I did with them the first time we attempted a cheesecake.
I was going for snowman.
We ended up with a snowduck who sat in my freezer for the next week.

This is an update to say that I am ALIVE. I am in scriptwriting class right now. Sueanne has a new harddisk and it is white and named Chanel. I can't seem to work at home. I kinda wanna live in schoool I think that's more fun and constructive. Wahaha.
I'll try to blog about our culinary adventures soon. (I've been wanting to for ages)

quiche!
I made a mushroom quiche for dinner tonight! I told my mum I want to learn to bake and cook, and so we went out to buy things to make my quiche, and then she helped me a bit with the crust, but then she had to go out and so I made the rest of it myself!
It was not delicious, but decent, I guess.
See my quiche!

John: "What did you do in your last job?" "I found mugs and filled them." "Were you a barista?" "No, I worked at an international television station."

Loof
Last night I went to this rooftop bar with Janice Heng and tried to blog from my new phone, but failed. My new phone is still the sex anyway. We had 1for1 martinis - Poached Saffron & Pear Something, White Chocolate, and Lychee for each of us. Loof has the best menu + namecard in the world. We also went to WAH! Noogee for dinner, where we had mini youtiao with 5 sauces. It was a very good night out, because there was Janice and I got a little bit drunk. Now I have to go to hungrygowhere.com and leave a review. HAHAHA.

Bamboo!
So after more than 1.5 years, my Graphire 4 sputtered and died, and I went out to get Wacom's new Bamboo tablet!
Kenny Yong gives it 2 weeks before it looks like crap, but the Bamboo is so chio that I will take good care of it forever. He has a point though; this is what my Graphire looks like now -
Oh well. Sexy tablets get treated better.

my boy up the lane
told me the most perfect story in the world. I'm so much in love. So much in love it makes me both weak and strong at the same time. He spent my weekend with me, always there, loving me, making me happy, whispering sweet everythings while I slept. There is no stronger love than this that makes it so close and so real, even though there are ten thousand miles between us. I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him I love him I love him I love him I love him I love him I love him............ I don't want it to ever, ever, end.

Einstein is a genius
You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat.

barbeque
Last night I got a *little* bit tipsy. Just a *little*.
We had a great barbeque; there was plenty of food (also plenty of food left over meaning we had to tapao home) - sambal stingray, chicken wings, sambal sotong, ham kebabs, beef kababs, corn, potato, otah, tomatoes-on-a-stick... it was a high-class barbeque, not those type class chalet then cannot start fire then the food damn pathetic must ask mother cook beehoon type of barbeque.
And then we had cake, and there was a swing, and I almost spilled my not-so-secret (not necessarily in that order).

Beware of odors from unfamiliar sources.
^^ that is what my igoogle fortune cookie says.

Had a pretty decent weekend, as usual. Weekends are generally great fun now, and completely devoid of SIP journal-writing activity. I have given up hope of ever completing them; I might as well relegate myself to FAIL.
Tried to sit up straight all throughout work today - I would say I succeeded, and that I felt different - better - when I got home. But then put me in close quarters with my bed and any posture-improving from the morning goes to naught because I'm back to belly-flopping on the bed and tapping on the laptop again.
It's way past my bedtime, I'm going to go to sleep.

my body's crashing
Called in sick today. I wish I knew why I was so constantly sleepy, and also why there seems to be so few hours in a day.
But aside from that there's finally someone who makes me very, very happy.

There's a boy
who lives thousands of miles away, thinks I'm beautiful, and tells the most perfect stories.
He makes me giggle and makes my heart bleed, and his words feel like there should be a soundtrack playing behind them.
I feel like a princess.

mmmmmyes
This morning Sueanne and I were sleepily awake at 7, and we lazed around in bed until 8+ or something, then went to have breakfast at Macs. After that, we watched The Holiday, which made me cry a fair bit and wish that there guys like that existed in Singapore. Then it was off shopping! The Frouster let me wear her pretty shoes because she didn't want to carry them.
It was a Good Day for Singapore retail sales as thousands scrambled to buy everything they needed and anything else on sale, in the last throes of 5% GSTness. In other words, FUCKING CROWDS DAMMIT OMG.
The bounty: 8 pairs of earrings, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 t-shirts, Za foundation and powder

1000th post!
And what a way to celebrate! I had a blast of a weekend.
Went out with MelissaLeong for shopping and cheer-uppery but turned out just to be walking and gigglefits which was perfectly awesome and fun. Partied the night away and [insert scandal here] and slept over at her house. Woke up, talked more, lounged around, sat on a swing in the rain, and thought of a certain boy a lot of the time. It was so, so great and I completely retract my statement on Friday that "omg so loser i have nowhere to goooooooooooooooooooooo".

i miss school
A long time ago, I left my cranky old JVC lying around in the Mac Lab and thought I had lost it forever. Yesterday, someone called and said they had it, and to go to school today to get it back.
The moment I stepped into the labs I though "ahh YES this smells like SCHOOL oh MAN I miss it so MUCH". I got my camera back, and then went traipsing around BizPark, and decided to have my beloved Curry Cutlet Noodle.
Then I went to the studios, and saw everyone. Well, not all at once, but soon enough there was Mr Lim, Mr Pok, Mr Yongyong, Mrs Nah, Ms Chuah, Mr Guo and Ms Chee. And Monkman and Sarahong and Fred. I stayed till almost 6 to help film something because there were visitors coming and they were showing off our radio facilities and Mr Pok needed footage of what we do for radio.
Anyway at one point out of nowhere Mrs Nah asked me "EUNICE ARE YOU DATING" and I'm "uh... I'm sorry?" and she's "are you dating??" and I say "... no". And she said that I should find meself a boy, that she found me endearing. Hahahahaha.
And then later I tell her to find me a Spanish boy and she says if I found one do you think I would even tell you. I think she has a crush on me and doesn't want me to love another.
...
Anyway.
It was hilarious and fun and oh god I could be myself again. I love it when I'm with the people who know that I am not-just-slightly insane. I think at work I am so stifled.

KEEL
Today I spent more than an hour transcribing a bloody interview. Bloody bloody transcript, bloody bloody interview. I KEEL YOU, I say to the transcript. I KEEL YOU. Interviews more than ten minutes should never be allowed anywhere unless they are funny. Funny interviews I will care for and water. Otherwise, I KEEL YOU, I say, I KEEL YOU.
